2005 Les Perruches St. Nicolas de Bourgeil

The Loire Cab Franc was a real change of pace. Smelled amazing, with ample barnyardy action but also a good bit of apple. Tasted great at first, too, with a lot of nice fruit and what I saw someone online describe as “machine oil.” It’s true, too. It totally tasted like my grandpa’s old shoe repair shop smelled. And while on the whole interesting and delicious at first, by the end of the bottle it was all a bit much.
Still, I’d love to have a glass of it again sometime.
