2009 Intenso Della Marronaia
We don’t drink a lot of Italian wine, if for no other reason than there’s only so many drinking opportunities in a week and France and the U.S. tend to draw most of our attention. A wine like this makes me want to reorient our plans, though.
A sangiovese from Tuscany made using organic grapes, this wine is done entirely in stainless steel, according to the producer’s website. That means it has some seriously snappy fruit, with almost nothing to weigh it down. It just tastes like beautiful, perfectly ripe berries, and keeps you going back for more. Simple and delicious.
Perfect with all kinds of richer foods.
At $18 or so, this is not an everyday wine for us, but it still ranks as a great value and one of my top wine “discoveries” of the year.
