2011 Domaine Ricard ‘Le Petiot’

ImageI had been wanting to try this Loire Sauvignon Blanc for awhile. The Garagiste guy raves about it once a year, and a fellow at a local wine shop confirmed that it was always a great value (at $15). I have also been a fan of their red counterpart in the past.

I set this up as my Christmas dinner white, and it was a huge hit. Tasted blind, I might have pegged this as a New Zealand SB, given how rich and fruity it is. That said, it’s got the clean minerality of the best of the Loire, and is more asparagus/herbal than NZ. Less grapefruit, too.

Still, a big, killer wine. No complaints at all for $15. Buy it buy the bucket if you can find it cheaper.
