2011 Domaine Chene Macon Villages

I love American wines, I really do.

And yet, here’s another example of the kind of thing that’s really, really hard for New World wines. Classy+interesting+delicious chardonnay for $12 or so? Forget about it.

A villages level white Burgundy, this has some exuberant tropical notes held in check with Old World restraint. There’s a chalky minerality that, when taken with the fruit level, just makes for an all around delicious, versatile white.

This is an outrageous value white Burgundy.
