2011 Novellum Chardonnay

novellumAs long as chardonnay remains shorthand for a glass of white wine at a bar, it will be easy to be dismissive of the grape.

The fact that there’s so much terrible, cheap chardonnay on the market certainly doesn’t help it’s reputation.

But for those who like chardonnay and don’t want to spend a fortune, it’s hard to do much better than this $11 clean and crisp bottle from France. This is not a terribly complex wine, but it’s a very good one, and it tastes more like granny smith apples and sea salt than caramelized new oak.

Not complex, but doesn’t taste like it was manufactured in a lab.

Very nice.
